Departures Magazine: September 2011

I recently had the opportunity to photograph four of the best restaurants in Brooklyn and Queens for an 8-page story in the September issue of Departures Magazine, and I could not have been happier about it.  Just an all-around incredible experience - going behind the scenes, tasting some of the best food NYC's outer boroughs have to offer, and meeting the chefs and restauranteurs behind it.  Here are some of the shots from Prime Meats, Roberta's, M. Wells, and Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare...

Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo; Prime Meats.

Carlo Mirarchi; Roberta's.

Sarah Obraitis and Hugue Dufour; M. Wells.

LOCAL ROOTS

During a trip for a recent shoot (which I'll be posting here soon), I had the opportunity to go behind the scenes
into the kitchen of Local Roots, a farm-to-table restaurant in Roanoke, Virginia.  Using the highest quality pasture-raised meats and local ingredients, executive chef Josh Smith and his team put together an incredible family-style dinner for us.  Contemporary cuisine with a rustic, southern flavor.  Here's a little taste...
